Absentee voters need to apply

POTEAU--Voters in LeFlore County who want to have absentee ballots mailed to them for the July 27 Primary Election and the special county election should apply now, according to County Election Board Secretary Phillip Zearley.

Although the county election board can accept applications for absentee ballots until 5 p.m. on July 21, Zearley urged voters who want to vote by absentee ballots to apply early.

Absentee ballot applications are available at the County Board Election office at 103 N. Church in Poteau. The applications are also available online HERE.

At least two mail transactions must be made, according to Zearley. The county election board must mail the application to the voter and the voter must return the voted ballot by 7 p.m. on election day for the vote to count.

Zearley said any registered voter can vote by absentee ballot in any election in which he is eligible to vote.
