Heavener boys, girls down Stigler

HEAVENER—Koda Glover hit a basket with two seconds left to lift Heavener past Stigler and complete a sweep of the two games here Friday night.

Glover’s basket gave the Wolves a 59-57 lead and Stigler missed a shot from near halfcourt at the buzzer. In the earlier game, Heavener coasted to its 14th-straight victory with a 78-27 decision over the Lady Panthers.

Skylar Cooper led Heavener’s girls with 25 points. Taylor Collins added 23 and Shaylee Manley scored 11, despite all three players sitting out the fourth quarter.

In the second game, Heavener trailed by double digits at halftime and cut the deficit to 47-39 at the end of the third quarter. A steal and dunk by Glover got the Wolves going in the fourth quarter and they rallied to tie the score on four straight points by sophomore Shawn Bradley.

After tying the score, Heavener got the ball back with 11 seconds left. Glover drove and his defender fell down, giving him a clear lane to the basket.

Glover led the Wolves with 18 points. Bradley had his best game of his career, scoring 17 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

This was Senior Night for Heavener as it was the last home game of the regular season. Five seniors were announced as starters including standout Brandon Kirkland, who has been out since the semifinals of the county tournament with a broken collarbone.

He was replaced by Glover to start the game. Both Heavener teams will be off until next weekend when they host Spiro in the district tournament.
