Lady Pirates finish third in state 

The Poteau Lady Pirates captured third place in the class 4A state golf tournament, which concluded May 6, 2010 at Lake Hefner South Golf Course in Oklahoma City. Bishop McGuiness was first, followed by Clinton.

The Lady Pirates shot a team total of 397 on the first day of the tournament and improved their team score by 32 strokes on the second day, shooting 365.  Senior Hallie Bovos led the Lady Pirates shooting 93 - 89 for a total of 182.  Senior Salena Loggains, followed with a 99 - 85 with a 184 total. Junior Shelby Culver carded 102 - 91 totaling 193. 

Also, sophomore, Addie Guthrie, shot 103 - 100 for a 203 total and junior Kelsey Weaver carded 108-106 for a total of 214. The third place finish is the best state tournament team finish in the history of the Poteau Lady Pirates’ golf program.

The Lady Pirates are coached by Randall Wheat. The future of the Lady Pirates’ golf program is bright with the return of most of the team, with state tournament experience, and with the addition of some excellent incoming freshmen next year.
