By CRAIG HALL
POTEAU—Poteau won its 30th game in the regular-season finale against Muldrow here Monday afternoon on a cool and cloudy afternoon.

Poteau 9, Muldrow 7

Muldrow      1  0  4  0  2  0  0 --7
Poteau        2  3  2  2  0  0   x-- 9

The Lady Pirates geared up for their regional opener Wednesday at Noble with the 9-7 win over Muldrow on a day that felt more like the opening game than the final one.

Poteau jumped to an early 5-2 lead, allowed Muldrow to tie the game before jumping back ahead by four runs by scoring two each in the third and the fourth.

Muldrow managed to score two more runs in the top of the fifth but the Lady Pirates silenced the visitors over the final two innings.

Poteau outfielder Natalee King comes close to a diving catch before the ball pops out of her glove in the Lady Pirates' 9-7 win over Muldrow Monday afternoon.

The Lady Pirates honored their seniors on Senior Night with the victory as Kylie Brown and Meagan Ryburn both had three hits for Poteau. Natalee King, Courtney Allison and Amber Bandy each had two hits while Allison drove in two RBI.

After Muldrow jumped in front in the top of the first by scoring one run, Poteau came back with two in the bottom half of the inning. King had a single, Allison followed with a double to score King before Brown and Ryburn followed with hits.

Kaylie Cross got on to lead off the bottom of the second with a single, Amber Bandy got on with an error and Olivia Howerton followed with a single to knock in Cross. Katie Pierce and King both followed with sacrifice flies to score two runs.

Brown and Ryburn got the third inning started with singles and were aided by a sacrifice fly by Cross.

King, Brenna Vise and Ryburn all had singles in the fourth as Poteau scored its final two runs of the game.

Poteau’s defense was excellent in the final innings after Muldrow’s bats were hot for most of the afternoon.
