Large crowd attend forum

POTEAU—A large crowd attended the Political Forum Thursday night at the Bob Lee Kidd Civic Center here.

The event, sponsored by the Poteau, Heavener and Spiro Chambers, was the last chance for voters to see all the candidates in a group setting.

Candidates for the assessor’s office, house and senate were given the opportunity to answer questions from a panel and also questions from the audience.

Tim Trent, Dennis Yochum and Jan Ford are running for the assessor’s position and were all in attendance.

Candidates for county commissioner in District 1 and 3 included Ceb Scott, Bobby McKinzy, Ike Davis, Don Young, Aaron Swafford and Antonio Lee Jones were in attendance. Incumbents Carroll Rogers and Freddie Cox were absent.

Jarrod Ridenour, Jake Leming, Roger Mattox, James Lockhart, Traci Barnes and Matt Webb are running for the house seat and were in attendance. David Hogan is also running but had a previous engagement and could not attend.

For the senate, candidates Mark Allen, Neil Brannon and Tom Lannigan were present.

The event raised over $1,100 for the Boys & Girls Club of LeFlore County.
