Letters to editor
Don Barnes 2-12-10
Dear Editor:
First let me say, my heart
aches for Jim and Jan Cook for the unexpected loss of their daughter Christie
this past week. And, we also want to offer prayers and condolences to the
Shankle family of Monroe for the loss of young Jay Shankle who was killed in an
automobile accident Thursday.
For anyone interested we have a Poteau Chamber of Commerce "Poteau Song Contest"
going now with a Grand Prize of $1,000.00 for the winning entry in addition to
recording studio time, newspaper publicity and possible radio station air
play. Entry forms and guidelines may be picked up at the Poteau Chamber
office at the corner of Broadway and Rogers streets in Poteau. The deadline for
submission of entries on either a cassette tape or Compact Disc is Feb. 26. The
contest is open to all who play and/or sing and want to enter. For additional
information and suggestions you should contact me at (918) 647-9459 or
donbarnes@windstream.net.
Charley Horsley and I have arranged to buy very colorful and attractive Ten
Comandment signs
at cost from a man in Montana who is on a mission to see them displayed all over
Oklahoma, starting with LeFlore County. These range all the way from a 4 X 6
inch refrigerator magnetic sign for $3 which includes postage and handling. I
will send the refrigerator magnet signs to anyone wanting them "free of charge"
as long as my limited supply lasts. Just contact me by phone or E-Mail me and
give me your address.
And there are also car
door magnetic signs for $10 and large signs up to 12 X 24 foot for churches and
buildings or billboards. The gentleman offering these has, at his own personal
expense, put up several large billboards in Las Vegas with the Commandments and
below them they say "What happens in Vegas...God Knows".
These are very inexpensive and being offered at cost including shipping and
handling. If you, or your church, are interested in posting these signs all over
LeFlore County please contact either myself at (918) 647-9459 or Charley Horsley
at (918) 721-4219.
Thank you and God bless all,
Don Barnes
