Frances Barnett

WISTER—Frances “Mema” Barnett, 70, of Wister, passed away Saturday, June 26, 2010, in Fort Smith. She was born Dec. 3, 1939 in Oklahoma City and worked for Flanders and was secretary of the union.

Graveside services are Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Milton Cemetery with Rev. Gene Benson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home.

Survivors are two daughters, Pam Ward of Pocola and Carol Ann Amos of Poteau; two sons, James Elmer Barnett of Wister and Ricky Allen Barnett of Poteau; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Dewees of Oklahoma City; a brother, David Friend of Moore.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Gertrude (Edwards) Friend; her husband, James Barnett; five brothers and four sisters.

The family will be at the funeral home on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. to visit with friends and relatives.
