Harry
Shanahan
POTEAU--Harry Shanahan, 83,
of Poteau passed away March 7, 2010, in Poteau. He was born August 31,
1926, in Lawton to John
Joseph and Toy (Frazier) Shanahan. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and the
owner of Shanahan Finance in Poteau.
He
dedicated himself to taking care of his family including his mother who lived to
be 100 years old. For his friends, he always had a smile, handshake or hug for
anyone he met.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lida Gail (Tobler) Shanahan, a
brother Patty Lee Shanahan, a sister, Mary Jane Baker and a sister-in-law Elaine
Shanahan.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Ann and Steve Cherry of
Poteau; three grandchildren, Michael Shane Cooper of Poteau, John Randal Cooper
and wife Jaime of Ft. Worth and Dr. Angela Ann Cooper of Tulsa; two great
grandsons, Vincent and Andrew Cooper; a brother Pat Shanahan of Sioux City,
Iowa; as well as a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church in Poteau with the Father Valentine Ndebilie officiating.
Interment will follow service at Oakland
Cemetery in Poteau.
Rosary will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at Grace Manor Memorial Chapel.
Family will greet friends from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of
flowers the family request that donations be made to Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church Building Fund at
