Kenneth James Hughie

POTEAU—Kenneth James Hughie, 73, of Poteau, passed away Monday, March 1, 2010, in Poteau. He was born March 28, 1936 in Brenham, Texas and was a general laborer.

Services are Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Poteau Valley Baptist Church in Poteau with Rev. Jim Parsley officiating. Interment is at Oakland Cemetery in Poteau. Arrangements are under the direction of Evans & Miller Funeral Home of Poteau.

Survivors include his wife, Deloris, of the home; two daughters, Julie Hicks of Poteau, Jenny and Greg Claiborn of Belton, Texas; a grandson, Dennis Hicks Jr., of Poteau; a sister, Betty and George Dawson of Oregon; two brothers, Floyd and Ellna Hughie of Indianapolis and Rod Hughie of Poteau; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and loved ones; many beloved friends.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Keith Hughie and Buddy James Hughie; a brother, Thomas Hughie; and his parents, Thomas Jones and Betty (Clister) Hughie.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Hicks Jr., Greg Claiborn, George Martin, George Martin, Jr. and Nick Moore.

The family will be at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday to visit with relatives and friends.
