Pocola
sweeps Panama for districts
PANAMA—Pocola
swept Panama in both games here Saturday night to capture district
championships.
Pocola’s boys held off the Razorbacks, 58-44, while the Lady Indians downed
Panama, 48-38.
In
the boys’ game, both teams scored the same amount of field goals and three-point
baskets but Pocola was 23-30 on free throws while the Razorbacks were only 7-19.
Austin Parker, Patrick Dixon and Ryan Lairamore each had 14 points for Pocola.
Justin Smith led Panama with 16 while Jamikel Brooks had 15.
The Lady Indians also benefitted from a big advantage in free throws to capture
the win. Panama actually had more field goals, but Pocola made 23-44 free throws
while Panama hit 13 of 19.
Taylor Martindale came back from an injury to lead Pocola with 15 while Amber
Conrad had 12. Kayli Francis paced Panama with nine and Stephanie Lemons added
eight.
Both Pocola teams enter the regional tournament in the winners’ bracket. The
girls face Heavener Thursday at 6:30 p.m. while the boys take on Spiro at 8 p.m.
Panama’s girls play Spiro at 1:30 p.m. while the boys face Heavener at 3 p.m.
All four games will be played at Spiro.
