Poteau downs Sallisaw

SALLISAW—Poteau’s boys bounced back from the loss to Spiro on Friday night to down Sallisaw here Saturday, 42-33.

The win gave the Pirates a sweep over Sallisaw this season. Poteau’s girls lost in the earlier game, 49-26.

Senior Tanner Wright had a double-double to lead the Pirates. He scored 12 points, with eight coming in the final quarter, and grabbed 10 rebounds. Poteau is now 15-6 overall, 6-4 in conference play. Sallisaw drops to 9-13 and 3-7.

Poteau's girls fell behind early and could never rally. Addie Guthrie led the Lady Pirates, now 4-17, with 11 points.

Poteau closes out the regular season at home Tuesday against Panama.
