Poteau falls twice to Roland

ROLAND—Last week, Poteau’s boys beat Roland for the first time in 11 years.

That streak of wins over the Rangers only lasted a week as Roland got some payback Tuesday with a 62-43 win while the Lady Pirates fell, 62-38.

Poteau’s boys controlled the first half in the rematch, leading 26-17. Things started to change in the third quarter as the Rangers outscored the Pirates 21-8 and stayed that way in the fourth quarter.

Roland outscored the Pirates 45-17 in the second half as the Pirates dropped to 11-5 overall, 3-3 in conference play.

Poteau’s girls fell behind early and could never mount a comeback. Courtney Allison led the Lady Pirates with 19 points while Addie Guthrie added 10.
