Pirates fall in opener
POTEAU—Despite
having virtually no practices after basketball season ended on Thursday, Poteau
opened its baseball season Monday with a loss to Southside, 16-0.
Southside, now 3-0, jumped ahead 9-0 after two innings and coasted to the win.
The Pirates had a chance in the first inning with the bases loaded, but the next
two hitters struck out to end the threat.
Poteau’s only hit was a double in the fourth by Garrett Klutts. The Pirates are
scheduled to play at Sallisaw today.
