Vikes split in Grizzly
Classic
WEST
PLAINS, MO.—Carl Albert’s men bounced
back from a difficult loss to the host school on Friday to get their first win
of the season Saturday night in the Grizzly Classic.
The Vikings trounced North Arkansas, 84-56, Saturday to record their first win
of the season. Chris Holmes led CASC with 27 points while Jaron Jones had 26 and
Andy Garcia 10.
“They did not play real well,” coach Mike St. John said of North Arkansas, which
lost by only two points to NEO on Friday. “I thought our defense might have had
something to do with that. We could do pretty much what we wanted on offense and
got some good looks.”
Carl Albert had its worst offensive game of the season Friday against undefeated
West Plains, losing 52-34. The Vikings held their opponents to 38 percent
shooting, but could not get their offense going as none of CASC’s players scored
in double figures.
The Vikings, now 1-3, have a busy week ahead starting on Thursday with a game at
Northern-End. They return home to face Cowley County on Saturday and host
Northern-Tonkawa on Monday. Two of the contests are conference games.
